               History:
               Native               American               Indians,               mostly               of               the               Algonquin               Peoples,               inhabited               the               area               that               became               the               State               of               Michigan,               for               thousands               of               years               before               European               settlement               began.
               The               1622               Etienne               Brule's               French               Expedition               was               the               first               to               explore               the               State,               and               in               1668               the               French               established               the               first               permanent               settlement               in               Michigan               at               Sault               Ste.
